Our two Reception classes are set up with exciting, engaging provision to enable pupils to play imaginatively and creatively both inside and outside. Children engage in adult led tasks and child initiated learning. All areas of provision are linked to a bespoke curriculum that meets the needs of the children. Giving them the skills and knowledge needed to achieve a good level of development by the end of the reception year.

We use daily Read Write Inc. phonics sessions to help start the pupils on their reading journey. Pupils take home reading books every Friday to share with adults at home and also bring home a library book for parents to read.

We have daily maths input with all pupils and use cross curricular links in provision to support early maths development. Our maths curriculum is supported by the white rose scheme and the NCETM mastery approach.

Reception children participate in PE lessons each week but are not required to change into PE kits for this.

Parents are welcome to contribute to your child's learning journey through an online tool called tapestry. Parents will be given a unique login to follow the progress of their child throughout the early years.

Throughout the year we invite parents in to stay and play sessions and we also run several workshops for parents to keep up to date with what we are doing in school.
