Welcome to 3JH
Welcome to Year 3
The class web page is a great place to come to for information about what is going on in class. It also explains what things you need to be doing, both at home and at school to get the best out of your time in Year 3.
The page is updated each week with new homework sheets, spellings etc. You can also find the IPC Topic homework tasks, photos of things we've done and reminders - such as letters and important dates.
Keep checking back regularly and any questions please see one of the Year 3 team. Here's to a great year!
This unit didn't work as we had expected. It was such a shame as the kids were so excited about it. Due to ICT issues we are going to return to the coding programmes later in the year (probably towards the end of the Summer Term). Fingers crossed things will work as planned then and the children get to code their own game in the end.
Gateway to the World
Our new IPC new unit is Gateway to the World. We will be looking at places around the world and holidays. The trip to the airport will be a brilliant part of the topic too! The homework list is now attached below. It will be sent home this week so you can get started over the Spring bank holidays!
Keep checking back for further information.
Some of the class have asked if there is a way to do a reading quiz for a book that they have read at home. The answer is YES! (if the book is part of the accelerated reader scheme) However, the quiz must be done at school.
All you need to do is see if the book is listed on the AR scheme using the web link below. Simply search for the book and note down the quiz number. Bring this into school and do the quiz as normal. The words will count towards your total.
Homework sheets are sent home each Monday and should be returned to school the following Monday. The sheet contains sections for reading, rm easi-maths and passports. They also have a section for recording any extra IPC topic homework (continuous homework). Just in case you lose one, or need a spare I have attached a blank copy of the homework form below.
For the rest of the Summer Term (afetr Spring Bank holidays to the end of Year 3) children in Year 3JH should wear their blue kit on a Friday. They do not need to change into uniform and should come to school wearing their kit. This enables the children to spend much more time being active and reduces the time needed for getting changed. The kit should be plain navy blue with a white T shirt and trainers. No logos please. Again, any questions or problems please speak to a member of Year 3 staff.
Just like in Year 2 each child will have a Maths Passport. This helps identify the next maths facts your child needs to be learning. Some children in Year 2 flew through their passport targets - which is fab! Although we do work on these at school, children who practise regularly at home do progress faster than others. Please make sure that you are spending the expected time each week practising your targets - information is sent out weekly on the homework sheets. Don't forget to complete the sheet...and hand it in. And remember, if you're ready for testing, get the sheet signed and we can test you as soon as you are ready.
Please click on the link below to access the maths passports.
Previous IPc Unit - Material World
Our Marvellous Materials Exhibition was a great success! Below are the pictures of the event. Thank you to all the parents and guests who attended. The children loved showing off all their hard work and knowledge to you all.
